The strongest anime characters are the ones that nobody can stop. They are unstoppable titans of anime worlds. Sometimes it is their raw power, and sometimes it is their unique abilities that make them stand at the top of others. In this blog, we’ll count down the top 15 strongest anime characters who’ve left an indelible mark on the anime universe. To make a smooth ranking, we will divide them into 3 tiers:
Note: Powerscaling anime characters from different anime franchises is not a good idea since each anime universe has its own rules and power systems. Having fun is alright, but involving long conversations and arguing with other people over “who is stronger?” is a stupid and time-wasting idea that you should avoid, just have fun!
Strongest Anime Characters: Incarnates of Raw Power
These are the Titans, the unstoppable forces of nature. They do not need any special ability or power to be strong; just pure strength is enough for them to be one of the strongest anime characters.
5. Monkey D. Garp – One Piece
Garp, a legendary figure in the world of “One Piece,” is undoubtedly one of the strongest characters in the series. His incredible strength and combat abilities, combined with his mastery of Haki, have made him a top-tier character in One Piece.
The main source of his strength is through pure training and battles. In his youth, Garp was punching battleships with his bare punches as a warm-up. Being in the Marines allowed him to fight against numerous strong and formidable opponents. Before going on missions, he was destroying mountains with bare hands. This man truly deserves his nickname, the Legendary Hero.
4. Meruem – Hunter x Hunter
Meruem is one of the most powerful and fascinating antagonists in the whole anime industry. He started his life as a casual ruthless “bad guy” in the early episodes, and ended his life as one of the best-written anime villains ever.
Mind you, Meruem is just a 40-day-old being. One of the main sources of his power lies in the race and DNA of this character. He is the only character who did not have life-through training to be one of the strongest anime characters on this tier.
3. Might Guy – Naruto Shippuden
Might Guy, also known as “Konoha’s Prideful Green Beast” is the true definition of “hard work over talent”. He could not do fancy jutsu like other ninjas did, nor did he have a tailed beast. He trained, trained, all day long, to be a strong ninja.
His true powers, however, come from the forbidden technique: The Eight Inner Gate. Each gate boosts Guy’s powers more than the previous one. In the last gate, the “Gate of Death”, Might Guy becomes Night Guy (serious). It is so powerful that it comes with a cost to the user’s life. There is no doubt that Might Guy is one of the strongest characters in Naruto if not all anime.
2. Goku – Dragon Ball Super
Goku, the iconic face of Shounen anime, is undoubtedly one of the strongest anime characters to ever exist. It is not just anime, if you have an interest in other anime, comics, or something related to this industry, you must have heard this line: “Can he beat Goku though?”
Thanks to the Dragon Ball franchise, we have great anime series nowadays that are inspired by it. Goku, from his childhood to his adulthood, even in his death, trained and trained under various masters. Then he fought, lost, trained, and finally won. That basically sums up his whole life.
1. Saitama – One Punch Man
Here comes Saitama, the greatest rival of Goku although they have never fought and are not in the same franchise. Saitama is a “full-time hero” who fights against monsters to save the civilians and his pocket. He is tremendously strong and destroys everything with one punch.
Now, to make things clear, One Punch Man anime is a parody of Shounen anime, and Saitama is a gag character. He gained his powers through harsh training: 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squads, and 10KM running — every single day for a year and a half. And that is not all, during fights, his power increases tremendously, faster than the opponent. Therefore, technically, there is not a single soul Saitama cannot defeat in a fight.
Strongest Anime Characters: Talents of Mass Destruction
Moving on to the next tier, we have characters with unique, special abilities. Keep in mind that, these are not random abilities that you have fun with. They are the utmost destructive abilities that make the user one of the strongest anime characters of all time.
5. Whitebeard aka Edward Newgate – One Piece
Edward Newgate aka Whitebeard was known as the strongest man alive even on his last day. Thanks to his terrifying Haki power, Whitebeard also had a supreme-grade sword. However, what put him on this list was his destructive devil fruit, Tremor-Tremor fruit.
In the universe of One Piece, there are several, maybe 2-3, people who can make a planetary-level destruction, and Whitebeard is surely one of them. Thanks to the abilities of his fruit, Whitebeard can create devastating earthquakes that can turn the world upside down.
Things get even worse when you realize One Piece world is mostly water. Large tsunamis and rifts in the ground would not leave a single living soul on Earth in no time.
4. Mob aka Shigeo Kageyama – Mob Psycho
Mob could be the only character with a power control problem in this post. He is a high-school boy, he is overpowered, and he is introverted. The perfect triangle of the best character. His main power is psychic abilities.

Here comes another parody anime, with OP (overpowered) main character. Cid Kagenou, aka Shadow, got his powers when he got transported, “isekaied”, to another world. Cid does not get a training session and start from scratch, instead, an episode passes, and he is now the absolute beast.
One of his main assets in the battles is his understanding of magic. He understands magic more than anyone else in the series, and therefore, he can utilize it much better. It is not for nothing when they say: ” Knowledge is power”.
His power literally allows him to make a nuclear explosion. Although this is not much in comparison to others on the list, we still haven’t seen his full potential. As the series approaches the final, I am sure we will recognize Cid as one of the strongest anime characters of all time.
2. Satoru Gojo – Jujutsu Kaisen
Satoru Gojo is another beast of his world: a jujutsu master. Imagine a world with a power balance between bad guys and good guys, then Gojo is born, and the bad guys are in a worse position than never seen before.
Just the pure existence of Satoru is enough to scare the shit out of the villain group. As he says, he is the strongest. What makes him strong is his techniques: Limitless and Six Eyes. In fact, he is the only one to awaken both of these powers in the last 400 years. In other words, he is infinite.
1. Aizen Sosuke – Bleach
Here comes the mastermind, the maestro, and one of the most iconic villains of anime. Aizen is the kind of villain you would wish not to mess up with. He is strong, but more importantly, he is smart, very smart.
Aizen’s power is manipulation. But what we have seen is just the tip of the iceberg. He has much more in his pocket than you would ever think.
Strongest Anime Characters: The Universe Benders
Coming to our last tier, the universe benders, I should admit that it was not an easy list to make. Characters in this tier, are the absolute strongest ones. They have the power to manipulate, and possibly destroy, the universe. They, in fact, may be the strongest anime characters to ever exist.

Antispiral has immense power reserves and can fight anything on his way. He was capable of fighting against a galactic-scale mech that integrated the entirety of the multiverse into its body. His powers, abilities, and skills are beyond a mortal human.
3. Rimuru Tempest – That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
The same thing goes for Rimuru too. He is the strongest slime known to fiction, but hey, he is not a bad slime, so nothing to worry about. Although the anime has not shown his full powers, in the light novel, his full powers can manipulate the universe.
His powers are unstoppable in that magic world. Not to mention, other worlds cannot do much either.
2. Anos Voldigord – The Misfit of the Demon Academy
Anos is the strongest anime character who is also a demon lord. Anos possesses extraordinary magic power that surpasses all other beings. Anos’s power comes from his immense magic reserves and skills.
Not to mention that Anos has immense speed and physical strength. Combined with his abilities, Anos becomes one of the strongest anime characters known to humanity. He is also one of the OP main characters on this list.
1. Zeno – Dragon Ball Super
All those characters who have immense powers, beyond our imaginations are now ready to get powercreeped. Zeno, a multiversal being, can do what others do with their full effort just by a snap.
